About the author and other contributors: Ulrich Schäfer, born in 1967, trained at the Henri Nannen School of Journalism in Hamburg after studying economics in Münster and Washington D.C.. He then worked as an economic journalist at Der Spiegel and later at Süddeutsche Zeitung. Since the beginning of 2007, he has been head of the economics department there.

Ulrich Schäfer, born in 1967, has worked for the Süddeutsche Zeitung for more than 13 years, where he heads the business editorial department together with Marc Beise. Together they wrote the book "Deutschland digial - unsere Antwort auf das Silicon Valley" (Campus). They also recently co-edited the book "Denk doch, wie Du willst" (Süddeutsche Zeitung Edition) about Germany's leading economists.

Schäfer is a successful author and publisher of non-fiction books on economics. His books include the economic bestseller "Der Crash des Kapitalismus" (nominated for the German Business Book Award). He was an editor at the news magazine DER SPIEGEL and has written numerous cover stories there. Schäfer studied economics and journalism in Münster and Washington D.C. and attended the Henri Nannen School of Journalism in Hamburg.
